About NATRA Blog

This page is meant for folks to post their thoughts on the Saturday group run. I (Neil) will post a blurb about who showed up and where it was held. From there, I hope that other runners will share their thoughts since we often have different experiences on the same run. Enjoy!

Fort Tuthill Urban Trail to Ponderosa Trails

Neil, Tony, Sabrina and Aaron decided to forgo the treacherous drive to Sedona and run on the Flagstaff Urban Trail System. There was little question that this was perhaps the most miserable weather conditions under which we have ever conducted a group run. It was a heavy wet snow that could not decide if it wanted to be snow or rain. As we slogged our way through the run, our feet became soaking cold. Running alongside roads, several cars slushed us, but by that time we were so wet and cold it did not matter. The only saving grace was that we returned to the seasoned kitchen and warmed up with teas and coffees. Hopefully the showery snow will decide that it wants to truly hit Flagstaff with a real snowstorm. I mapped the route on mapmyrun.com. Check it out below.

  1. Three of us showed up at the Sedona Trail head in windy rainy conditions. Temps were a lot nicer than up north - upper 40s. Running was good and the rain let up so not too bad. I had hoped to turn the Budda Beach/Cathedral Rock run into a nice loop where we complete a circumnavigation of Cathedral but not today.

  2. Thanks for the update Kimball. We were too nervous to take a chance on the roads. Must have been some good waterfalls!

  3. Well, now I don't feel too bad! I didn't want to miss my favorite Sedona run. Instead, I ran 5 miles in Corrales, NM in my shorts and a tee. ;>)
